About This Vehicle
Presented by HillSide Motors, this beautifully preserved 1962 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is a highly desirable first-generation Corvette with documented history and an impressive original specification. Sold new by Martin Pollard Co. of North Hollywood, California, on February 2, 1962, the car was originally delivered in Honduras Maroon over a black interior with a white soft top. Originally equipped with the 327ci V8 rated at 360 horsepower and Rochester fuel injection, this Corvette was ordered with the special 4-speed manual transmission featuring a 2.20 first gear ratio, along with a 4.11 rear end, direct-flow exhaust, and wide-base wheels. The car retains many of the distinctive details associated with its original fuel-injected configuration. Today, the Corvette is finished in Roman Red with a black soft top. The original fuel-injection system has been removed and replaced with a 4-barrel carburetor and intake, while the engine retains its aluminum finned valve covers, aluminum expansion tank, and other period-correct details. An upgraded aluminum radiator has also been fitted. Inside, the Corvette retains its black bucket seats, original steering wheel, factory gauges, and highly desirable 7,000-rpm tachometer. The original-style spinner hubcaps further complement the classic appearance of this early Corvette. The car is accompanied by significant historical documentation, including a copy of the original sales order, a letter from the dealer to Chevrolet Motor Division requesting the special-order transmission, the pre-delivery inspection, and additional sales documentation. This 1962 Corvette combines exceptional early-Corvette styling, documented provenance, desirable factory equipment, and a strong-running 327 V8. It starts, runs, and drives very well and remains in lovely condition, offering a new owner the opportunity to enjoy one of the most iconic American sports cars of the era.
